‘Unacceptable’: Iran’s President Ibrahim Raisi calls anti-hijab protests ‘acts of anarchy’

New York: Iran has freedom of expression, but the protests now are unacceptable “acts of anarchy”, Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi said on Thursday, adding that he had ordered an investigation into the death of a young woman who sparked a bloody protest.

“The rights issues around the world should be considered with the same standard,” Raisi told a news conference on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.

“Freedom of expression is there in Iran … but acts of anarchy are unacceptable.”
