On duty driver of Pratapgarh-Kanpur Intercity Express train dies of cardiac arrest

Amethi : The on-duty driver of Pratapgarh-Kanpur Intercity Express train died on Friday due to sudden illness while driving. Gauriganj railway station superintendent Praveen Singh said that the train driver Harishchandra Sharma (46), resident of Parshurampur Chilbila, was driving the train towards Kanpur, when suddenly he developed health-related problem near Kasimpur halt.

The assistant pilot on board stopped the train and called an ambulance. Singh said Sharma was taken to a nearby health centre, where doctors declared him brought dead.

He said the doctors suspected that Sharma had suffered a cardiac arrest. Singh said the train left the place after the arrival of another loco pilot from Pratapgarh. Fursatganj police station in-charge Manoj Kumar Sonkar said that the body has been sent for post-mortem.
