District administration active for the proposed ropeway, committee formed
Varanasi, 24 November (Hindustan Times). The district administration is continuously making efforts for the proposed ropeway in Varanasi. On Thursday, District Magistrate S.K. Rajalingam gave directions for this.
In relation to the proposed rope-way, the Vice President VDA said that in this 15 pillars are falling on the land and 15 pillars on the public land. For the proceedings of land acquisition, a committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Additional District Magistrate (V./Ra.). The District Magistrate directed for disposal of land related cases on top priority. In the meeting, the District Magistrate also took information about this by instructing to speed up the progress of 04-lane widening and strengthening work from Pandeypur Square to Ring Road and from Kachari to Sandha Marg. The biggest problem of Banaras city was also directed to prepare a plan to make Ring Road and 8-10 connecting roads to exit from the city on Ring Road to ease traffic operations and reduce traffic load on the roads. The District Magistrate insisted the traffic police to mark those places. Where there is a possibility of some widening of the roads and traffic can be facilitated by increasing traffic lights or by foot patrolling.
ACP Traffic informed that the proposal to construct the flyover has been given to the Setu Nigam. The District Magistrate directed the project manager Setu Nigam to include them in the action plan. Vice President VDA told that the dividers installed on the roads of the Public Works Department in the city. They need to be re-adjusted after surveying the spot. Inter locking has been done on both the banks of Varuna river in the city. It can be used for auto, two wheeler and rickshaw operation.
