Cricket Australia will follow BCCI in IPL success, big announcement for BBL

The Indian Premier League (IPL) has made its mark in the world of cricket. Cricketers from all over the world dream of playing in this league. A few days ago, the BCCI showed its power in the world of cricket by selling the media rights of the IPL for Rs 48,390 crore. Cricket Australia is also gearing up to follow in the footsteps of the growing popularity and progress of IPL. Cricket Australia on Wednesday announced the introduction of a draft system on the lines of IPL for the selection of overseas players in the upcoming Big Bash League (BBL).

The next season of BBL will start in December

The next season of BBL is scheduled to start in December, with the draft expected to be ready in the next few months. According to the draft system, each team will have to select a minimum of two players and a maximum of three players. Cricket Australia, however, said the draft aims to attract the best players available overseas and make the BBL more competitive in the international market.

There will be 4 categories of players in the draft. The first will be platinum, second gold, third silver and fourth bronze category. In which the cricketers of Platinum category will be kept in the highest paid category. IPL is the second largest sports league in the world in terms of cost per match.
