Commonwealth Games: President Murmu congratulates Tejaswin Shankar on winning bronze in the high jump event

New Delhi, 4th August (H.S.). President Draupadi Murmu has congratulated athlete Tejaswin Shankar for winning a bronze medal in the high jump event at the Commonwealth Games 2022.

The President tweeted, “Excellent performance by Bronze medalist Tejaswin Shankar. Congratulations on becoming the first Indian to win a medal in the high jump at the Commonwealth Games. You displayed exemplary resolve to make the country proud. My best wishes for many more inspiring adventures.”

Shankar opened the account of India’s medals in the track and field event at the Commonwealth Games. Tejaswin won the bronze medal with a jump of 2.22m in the final of the men’s high jump event. With this, he became the first athlete to win a medal for India in the high jump at the Commonwealth Games.
