India’s legendary para table tennis player Bhavna Patel won a medal in para table tennis women’s singles (category 3-5) on the first day. She has secured at least a silver medal by defeating Sue Bailey of England in the semi-final match and entering the final. Bhawna defeated English player Su 11-6, 11-6, 11-6 in three sets. She defeated Fiji’s Akanisi Latu 11-1, 11-5, 11-1 to reach the semi-finals.
Sakshi’s golden performance with Bajrang, Deepko
India’s men and women wrestlers are in top form this year. After Bajrang Punia in men, Deepak Punia in women, Sakshi Malik has landed straight for the gold medal. India’s veteran wrestler Bajrang Punia has achieved this feat by defeating Canada’s McNeil in the 65 kg weight category. While Sakshi Malik won the gold medal in the freestyle 62kg category. She won the gold medal by defeating Ana Godinez Gonzalez of Canada. After this, Deepak Punia (Deepak Punia) of India won the gold medal by defeating Muhammad Inam of Pakistan in the 86 kg category. Deepak defeated Muhammad by a margin of 3-0 to win the medal and more importantly, this is Deepak Punia’s first Commonwealth medal.
