The High Court questioned the government regarding the Morbi pool tragedy, said- 10 lakh compensation should be given

Ahmedabad: A public interest litigation was heard in the High Court regarding the Morbipool tragedy. The Gujarat High Court has expressed displeasure over the ex-gratia amount announced by the government in the Morbi pool tragedy and said that the family of the deceased youth, who is the sole breadwinner in the household, should be paid Rs 10 lakh instead of Rs 4 lakh. , Now further hearing in this matter will be held on December 12. The High Court said that many people lost their lives in the 30s to 40s. Gujarat High Court said, compensation of 4 lakhs to the dead is not enough, we are not satisfied. The court said that prima facie the government should pay at least 10 lakh compensation. The court asked, what is the need to write the caste of those who died? All dead count equally.

10 lakh compensation should be given

The court said that prima facie the government should pay at least 10 lakh compensation. The court asked that what is the need to write the caste of those who died? All dead count equally. The government will give a compensation of 3 thousand per month to the children whose both mother and father have passed away. The court said, Rs 3000 will not cover the child’s school uniform and books. This compensation is not enough.

The royal family of Morbi has given a compensation of 1 lakh to all the deceased. A total of 7 children whose both parents have passed away will be paid Rs 37 lakh per child from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, Prime Minister’s Relief Fund and donations received from private donors. 25 lakh per child from Adani Foundation.

All the bridges of the state should be surveyed

An important order of the High Court to the government is to survey all the bridges in the state. And a certificate must be submitted that all bridges are fit for use. Bridges that need repair should be done immediately. The court has ordered to complete this work within 10 days and submit the report. If the injured person needs to be admitted to a major hospital, the state government should take immediate action and provide proper treatment to them.

What action was taken against the managers of Aureva Group? Court asked Morbi Municipality why they allowed Aureva Group to use the bridge for five and a half years without any agreement? Why five remained silent for five years? The investigation report of the SIT should be presented in the court in a sealed envelope. If the SIT investigation is not found correct, the High Court will hand over the investigation to some other agency.

Correspondence between Morbi Municipality and Oreva Group in the bridge repair contract and between them shows that they are only interested in the ticket price. There is also concern over the condition and risk of the bridge. Why didn’t the Morbi municipality do super seed even after such a huge tragedy? If the government does not exercise its power, the court will issue a writ. The hearing will be held on December 12.
