Palwal: Grant will be given for planting other crops instead of paddy: Deputy Commissioner Krishna Kumar
Palwal, 23 June (H.S.). Mera Pani Meri Virasat Yojana is being run by the Haryana government in view of the depleting groundwater level and water conservation. Under the scheme, farmers will be given an incentive amount of seven thousand rupees per acre for taking other crops instead of paddy. On Thursday, Deputy Commissioner Krishna Kumar called upon the farmers of the district and said that understanding the importance of water in all of you life, you must adopt crop diversification. He said that water is very essential for any life on earth. In such a situation, keeping in mind the problems related to water in future, we all have to work towards its conservation.
He said that Haryana Government had started Mera Pani Meri Virasat Yojana in the year 2020-21 with these objectives. Dr. Pawan, Deputy Director, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department informed that various types of grants are being given to the people and institutions working for water conservation through the scheme. He told that this year any farmer of the district, except paddy, takes other crops like maize, cotton, tur, moong, moth, urad, guar, soybean, sesame, groundnut, castor or crops related to horticulture, then seven thousand per acre. An incentive amount of Rs. Dr. Pawan told that if a farmer has taken other crop instead of paddy last year and this time also he will sow another crop on the same field, then he will be given incentive.
He informed that farmers who leave vacant fields in exchange for paddy will also be provided incentive money. Which will be confirmed by the committee constituted of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department, Horticulture Department, Patwari, Numberdar and concerned farmer.
