In order to expand the popularity of both the major dimensions of Prasar Bharati – Doordarshan and All India Radio through social media, it had formed a digital wing in May, 2019. PBNS&DP chief Sameer Kumar describes the last three years as very positive and full of achievements. Sameer Kumar, who has studied in IITs and IIMs and worked in top banking companies abroad, says that aiming to deliver information and news of Doordarshan and All India Radio through the wide and highly effective platforms of Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and Telegram We are working. He says that the importance of digital platforms emerged more rapidly in the period of Kovid-19. We undertook to spread correct information through all platforms of social media and make people aware of fighting against Corona. On Doordarshan and All India Radio, the views expressed by health experts, doctors, preventive measures, dispelling the confusion, PBNS was promoting them again and again in a better way on all social media platforms.

Sameer Kumar says that in the changing times, people are now moving in car, bus, train or metro etc. to connect with the country and the world or entertain. The biggest feature of social media is that it is global. Indian society is spread all over the world. We are moving ahead with this approach, to make Indians of India and Indians get material related to India and Indianness easily and the need of the younger generation should also be met. After the formation of PBNS, more than 20 million subscribers were added to Doordarshan’s YouTube channel, on DD National’s Twitter handle this number has increased from 7 lakh to more than 50 lakh, on PBNS’s Twitter also more than 1.5 lakh people have been joined. In Telegram, PBNS is registering the most effective presence.

Sameer Kumar says that there is a congenital defect of the digital medium that in the absence of correct information on this platform, misinformation spreads rapidly, which is called going viral. In such a situation, it is our resolve that cent percent true and quality information should reach the people. In a way, it is our priority to fight fake news and fill the vacuum created between right and wrong.

Sameer Kumar says, “Our Prime Minister has always been emphasizing on economic management and revenue awareness. Keeping that learning in mind, we made plans and implemented them from day one. We are happy that in the first year, we were given a budget of Rs.80 lakhs and earned a revenue of over Rs.2 crores. The basis of our popularity is the long standing reputation maintained by All India Radio and Doordarshan and the popularity earned from them.
