Gujarat Assembly Election 202: State election system in action mode, reviewed the preparations for the assembly elections

To review the preparations for the Gujarat Assembly Elections (Gujarat Vidhan Sabha Election 2022) and the Election Commission of India (Election Commission), the state’s Chief Electoral Officer P. Bharti held a video conference with all the district election officers of the state recently taken by the voters. Provided necessary guidance to implement important decisions taken. The role of the Booth Level Officer (BLO) becomes important at the time of elections. Observing that the BLOs play a vital role in updating the electoral rolls by including the names of the voters in the electoral rolls and reducing the names of the deceased voters, the Chief Electoral Officer urged all the District Election Officers to activate the BLOs and initiate the voter registration process. The district election officers have also been asked to start the first phase of inspection of EVM machines used for voting from July 15 and to check adequate security arrangements at the godowns where EVMs are kept. In view of this, a special request was made to make citizens aware about it by including it in Voter Awareness and Training (SWEP) activities and to make them active in colleges and educational institutions which do not have Voter Literacy Clubs (ELCs).

All the District Election Officers have been asked to visit the polling stations to rationalize the polling stations being set up in the assembly constituencies to ensure that the voters get basic facilities as well as to see that the polling Are center lined and convenient. Voters were urged to use social media and other platforms to make special efforts to reach out to voters by enabling them to register their names in the electoral roll at home and download and use the Water Helpline App.

In the video conference, the office bearers of the election division gave a presentation regarding the pre-election planning by the district election officers as well as voter awareness and training. Additional Chief Electoral Officer Shri RK Patel, Joint Chief Electoral Officer Shri Ajay Bhatt, Additional Collector Ms. Darshana Rank and all District Collectors and Election Officers of the state were present in the video conference.
