The Delhi government has announced a ban on the entry of heavy and medium goods vehicles into the union territory. Vehicles have been banned during the winter season to keep an eye on the pollution level in the capital. Based on the announcement, this restriction will be in force for the entire winter season from 1 November 2022 to 28 February 2023. Usually vehicles like mini tempo trucks were banned for 15-20 days till the end of the year in November or December.
On June 15, the Delhi government wrote to its neighboring states, including Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, to allow only BS VI-compliant buses to enter the national capital from October 1 to help control air pollution in the city. was requested. The request was made to tackle the problem of vehicular pollution in the city, officials indicated here, contributed by vehicles hailing from neighboring Haryana.
It should be noted that the air quality in the national capital has degraded to alarming levels over the years, and the government is taking several measures to curb air pollution.
