Delhi LG Vinay Kumar Saxena suspended deputy secretary, 2 SDMs in CM Arvind Kejriwal’s office, know why

New Delhi: Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena on Wednesday ordered suspension of deputy secretary and two sub-divisional magistrates (SDMs) in Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s office on charges of corruption. According to an official statement, Prakash Chandra Thakur, posted as Deputy Secretary in the Chief Minister’s Office, Harshit Jain, SDM Vasant Vihar and Devendra Sharma, SDM Vivek Vihar have been suspended and disciplinary action has been ordered against them. The Lt Governor on Monday also suspended two assistant engineers of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) for finding lapses in the construction of EWS flats in Kalkaji Extension.

Last week, the LG chaired a meeting to review the law and order situation in the national capital, apprising him about the current law and order scenario, crime data analysis, preventive measures, major challenges, reforms or initiatives and their . Influence of Commissioner of Police of Delhi Lt. Governor highlighted the steps taken by Delhi Police especially separating law and order from investigation and integration of PCR at police station level, initiatives for women’s safety, skill training through youth etc. appreciated.

 

He emphasized on ensuring timely and proper investigation of cases with special focus on collection of scientific evidence and thus increasing the conviction rate and thereby strengthening the deterrent effect of the law. Emphasizing on the importance of public outreach and community policing, the Lt Governor emphasized on public hearings in localities to facilitate redressal of public grievances.

The Lt Governor also stressed on regular training to improve the soft skills of the police personnel. He laid special emphasis on enhancing welfare measures for police personnel including resolution of arrears of pension and gratuity. Saxena also advised that the Delhi Police Housing Corporation be further strengthened to increase the satisfaction of police personnel with respect to housing facilities.
