Adequate sleep is very important for our health. A new research suggests that sleeping with blindfolds can boost brain function as it helps to block the light falling on the eyes from windows etc. This does not disturb our sleep. A good night’s sleep makes our mind sharper and absorbs information faster.

A study published in the Sleep Journal states that sleeping with a mask on the eyes increases our memory and alertness. Study author Vivana Greco, from Cardiff University’s School of Psychology, said the team carried out two experiments to understand how eye masks help us. The first experiment involved 94 people between the ages of 18 and 35 who wore eye masks at night while sleeping, and the second experiment involved 35 people in the same age group who did not use eye masks.

A team of researchers monitored both the groups for a week. In conclusion, the group using ‘eye mask’ was found to have an increased IQ compared to the group that did not use ‘eye mask’. Therefore, researchers believe that a quiet and dark place while sleeping is better for increasing brain function.
