Stock market update: Sensex down 709 points
Mumbai: The stock market fell today as soon as the question arose on whether the Mahavikas Aghadi government was falling or not. The Bombay Stock Exchange (Sensex) index lost 709 points at the end of trading today. Along with this, Nifty has fallen by 225 points. The Sensex fell 1.35 per cent to 51,822 points. Nifty also fell 1.44 per cent to 15,413 points.
Shares of 1,218 companies rose as soon as the stock market closed. Shares of 2025 companies fell in the stock market. Shares of 105 companies remained unchanged today.
Shares of almost all sectors fell today. BSE Midcap fell 1.5 per cent and Smallcap 1 per cent. Metal stocks fell by 5 percent The Nifty of Hindalco Industries, UPL, Tata Steel, JSW Steel and Wipro fell as soon as the stock market closed. PCL, Hero MotoCorp, TCS, Maruti Suzuki and Power Grid Corporation gained. Today the rupee has depreciated heavily against the dollar. Today the rupee has closed at 78.38.
