Kathmandu: It is said that if the mind is determined to achieve the goal, then success is definitely achieved. A soldier who lost both his legs in a war proved this saying to be true. His name is Hari Budhsagar. Despite losing both his legs at the age of 43, he created history by climbing Mount Everest, the world’s highest peak whose original Nepali name is ‘Sarga-Math’ (Heaven’s Head).

Hari was a member of the British Gurkha Regiment. He was fitted with a prosthetic leg in 2010 after losing both legs during the war in Afghanistan. This ex-serviceman has set a unique world record by scaling the world’s highest peak Mount Everest (8,848.86 m = 29,032 ft) despite having a prosthetic leg.

While giving this information today, an official of Nepal’s Tourism Department said that Hari Budhmagar, a disabled ex-soldier with both legs, has created history by conquering Mount Everest on Friday. Thus, he is the first person in the world to climb Everest by a person amputated in both legs.

Although he was accompanied by four other climbers to help him, Hari Buddhamagar achieved this feat without their help.
