Hailakandi (Assam): A case of a prisoner absconding from the custody of the Hailakandi police has come to light today. The police have conducted a search operation to nab the absconding prisoner.
The prisoner who escaped from the lock-up of Katlichda police station in the district has been identified as Altaf Hussain Laskar. He was arrested by the Abdullahpur police on January 12 on charges of being associated with smugglers of yaba tablets (drug tablets). The police were interrogating him at the police station.
Sources said the police could not trace the accused Altaf Hussain Laskar. There is an uproar in the police department as to how an accused escaped from the police station.
