New Delhi: Suspense on the post of Chief Minister continues after Congress’s resounding victory in Karnataka. There are currently two main contenders for the post. One is former chief minister and senior Congress leader Siddha Ramaiah and the other is Congress state president D.K. Shivakumar. Siddaramaiah has reached New Delhi since Monday. D.K. Shivakumar has left for Delhi today (Tuesday). “We have an organized house,” he said while addressing reporters at his residence before boarding a flight from Bengaluru to Delhi. Our number is 135. I don’t want to share here. Whether they like me or not (share) I am a responsible person. I will not backstab anyone or blackmail anyone.

Earlier he had said that the general secretary of the Congress party has asked me to come to New Delhi alone. I am going to Delhi alone. Now my health is also good.

Actually Shivakumar was supposed to go to Delhi on Monday evening itself but due to stomach infection he postponed his departure on Monday evening and left for Delhi this morning. Speaking to reporters before leaving for Delhi, he told reporters that winning 20 seats (in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections) is the next challenge before us. Our party is a united house. I don’t want to share here. I am a responsible person. I don’t want to misrepresent history. I don’t want to go with failure.

It is known that the Indian National Congress won a massive majority in the Karnataka assembly elections by winning 135 seats. Shivakumar celebrated his birthday on Monday. Meanwhile, the top leadership of the Congress has called Siddaramaiah to Delhi for a discussion.

The party’s central observers for Karnataka on Monday conveyed the views of the nine elected MLAs to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge. According to reports, Khadge will announce the final decision on who will be the leader (Chief Minister) of the Karnataka Assembly Congress Party after discussions with Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

Shivakumar on Monday said that all (Congress) MLAs are one and the decision about the chief minister will be taken by the high command.

Meanwhile, Siddaramaiah met senior AEICC leaders at Delhi’s Lodhi Hotel on Monday night. He was the Chief Minister of the state from 2013 to 2018. It is omnipresent. However, he remained tight-lipped about what he discussed with senior AICC leaders.
